A SEAT AT THE TABLE WITH DISTRICT DECISION MAKERS!

AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT YOUR IDEAS TO CITY LEADERS ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

Our Solving DC Problems Campaign 2006 was a huge success. So successful, in fact, that city officials would like us to continue the effort.

Once again, DC Appleseed is seeking your ideas. Your involvment will mean area residents will have direct input to District government leaders on key challenges facing the city.

Last year, we released a briefing book that presents ideas gathered during the 2006 campaign. The book served as the public's policy seminar for the District's new leaders, prepared by some of the region's most engaged citizens. If you were involved in that process, we would love to hear from  you again!

The mayor and his team routinely conduct focused meetings on some of the city's toughest problems. During these regularly-scheduled gatherings -- called CapStat sessions -- solutions to challenges are aired and concrete steps that should be taken to address problems are laid out.

We want to make sure the public has a seat at the table when the big issues are discussed.

Using this website, emails, the media and other means, DC Appleseed is now soliciting input on issues that will be discussed at upcoming CapStat sessions. The City Administrator has agreed to consider these ideas as part of their upcoming discussions on affordable housing, substance abuse treatment and fire and emergency medical services.

Submit your idea

Another important feature of this website is as a forum for anyone to share ideas with their friends and colleagues and to comment on ideas submitted by others -- including goverment officials.

Let the dialogue begin!

DEADLINES FOR SUBMITTING YOUR IDEAS:

AFFORDABLE HOUSING:
Submissions due Oct. 29

SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Submissions due Nov. 14

FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Submissions due Dec. 3
