About this Initiative

Solving DC Schools Problems 2008 is a project of DC Appleseed.
The purpose of Solving DC Schools Problems 2008 is to:
  • Solicit and gather ideas from District of Columbia residents and non-residents on how to solve issues impacting the District's schools.
  • Compile collected ideas to distribute to the Chancellor of DCPS for her consideration in the upcoming school year.
  • Stimulate constructive dialogue between District residents and the public officials at the District Public Schools office.
  • Infuse the revitalization of the schools with the input of area residents and its students.
  • Gather and share great ideas on solving any problem facing the D.C. schools.

To achieve these purposes, DC Appleseed will administer "Solving DC Schools Problems 2008" seeking the most original, creative, and practical solutions to the specific pressing issues in the District schools system.
